You are invited to The Garden of Eden dinner to celebrate Eden’s life and her passion for helping those with cancer thrive. Join us for a special long table dinner on Thursday, August 11 in the Poplar Grove at The Centre for Sustainable Food Systems at UBC Farm (tickets avaiable HERE).
In collaboration with FARMACIE, Juice Truck and Feed Life, we’re creating a true plant-based ‘Garden of Eden’ meal in honour of Eden Elizabeth to benefit Thrive Alive Foundation, a local charity focused on creating access for Canadians to life-enhancing cancer treatments not traditionally covered by the government or most health care plans.
The chefs have been hand picked by yours truly and we bringing an AMAZING long table dinner in the middle of a beautiful farm. Your headliner is Chef Karen McAthy of Blue Heron Cheese who will announce her final lineup this week!
Thrive Alive Foundation is a local, grassroots charity, 100% volunteer driven, launched in 2011. It has supported people in need of non-funded treatments and services across Canada, from small rural communities to major cities. The Foundation was Co-Founded by Stephanie Lemmo, a fundraising professional, and Dr. Walter Lemmo, a Naturopathic Physician focused in cancer care, with the intention to help create access to life-saving, life-enhancing treatments to people in need. One day, the Foundation hopes to support those facing all critical illnesses.
Since our Thrive Support Program began operating, our support has covered various treatments from massage therapy, reiki, naturopathic medicine, acupuncture and cancer wellness programs, to necessities during conventional treatment, including housing, feeding tubes and formula. While a critical illness rocks the foundation of every family, at this time, we seek to help the most vulnerable people faced with a cancer diagnosis, those with very little, or no income.
Eden Elizabeth was a dear friend of the organization and the Thrive Alive Foundation community – she was passionately involved in our fundraising events and contributed her experienced voice on our Board of Directors. She was a true gem, gracious and gentle in her demeanor, yet fiercely passionate about the transformational impact that nutrition and plant-based eating can have on one’s life. Her experiences with her cancer diagnoses always grounded our team, and her determination to inspire others fueled the work we do. It was Eden’s dream to host a long-table, farm inspired dinner for Thrive Alive Foundation – and our incredibly generous partners at FARMACIE, the Juice Truck, and Feed Life, are making this dream a reality.
Thrive Alive Foundation’s clients are always incredibly grateful of our support – but as a small charity, our demand for services far exceeds our resources and capacity. Events, such as the Garden of Eden, are so important to our programs – every dollar raised goes to support someone’s treatment or service.
